The People of CCI

CCI is extremely fortunate to have attracted and retained so many dedicated and intelligent associates, many of whom are with us in excess of 20 years. CCI's 33+ years of success and growth are a testament to the dedication and perseverance of our associates and the wise guidance provided by our board.

The Executive Team

Ann Gerace – Executive Director
Since 1988 Ann has provided leadership and guidance, shepherding CCI through good times and bad from a small utility-specific provider to a highly respected conservation services provider delivering multiple services to nearly all of the public utilities in Southwestern PA. Officials of public utilities, regulatory agencies and all levels of government regularly seek Ann's expertise in the energy efficiency, resource conservation and environmental fields. Most recently, Ann was honored by The Women and Girls Foundation as one of fifteen outstanding "Women Greening the Pittsburgh Region".
Michelle Rupert – Director of Administration
After earning her BA in Political Science with a dual minor in Pre-Law and German Studies, Michelle came to CCI in May of 2007 taking on the role of Coordinator/Executive Assistant. In August of 2009, Michelle was promoted to Director of Administration taking on the day-to-day operation of the organization, including HR, IT, contracts, procurement, budget & finance, and facilities management. In her spare time, Michelle manages LIURP and ERF programs for Columbia Gas and Peoples Natural Gas.
Richard Rothhaar – Director of Business Development
Rick began his affiliation with CCI back in 2003 as a docent for CCI's education programs. Shortly thereafter, Rick signed on as a member of the board of directors, serving from from 2004 through 2008; the final two terms as Board President. Between 2008 and 2009, Rick worked with the PA DEP to secure funding for the expansion of CCI's photovoltaic solar system, commissioned August, 2009. On January 1, 2010, Rick decided to take on the challenge of new business development for CCI and has participated in the launch of Columbia Gas' IQEEP and Equitable Gas SAVER programs.

Energy Education Services

Indigo Raffel – Education and Outreach Coordinator
Education has always been a mission-critical role of CCI and Indigo is tasked with leading that charge. Throughout her years of dedicated service, Indigo has developed and delivered energy efficiency and renewable energy programs targeted to teachers, students and adults. These programs illustrate and simplify these sometimes difficult concepts and highlight their importance to our wallet, health and the greater environment. Her nationally recognized Building as a Teaching Tool program hosts thousands of participants each year and demonstrates what it takes to build, live and work in a green building.

The Energy Efficiency and Resource Conservation Services Team

Pat Lovelace, Water Conservation Program Manager
A 16+ year veteran of CCI, Pat manages and implements the state-wide Pennsylvania American Water "Help to Others" water conservation program. Managing this program requires Pat to wear multiple hats. On any given day, Pat might be a customer liaison, hiring a plumber, training a new community-based organization, or preparing hundreds of water saving kits for mailing to customers.
Tony Saccamango, BPI BA, Resnet – Conservation Services Manager As Conservation Services Manager, Tony brings 27+ years of hands-on weatherization experience to CCI. In addition to conducting audits himself, Tony is responsible for managing our utility programs and supervising our auditor staff ensuring the highest quality program delivery and customer satisfaction. Tony's knowledge and experience has proven instrumental in the development of new and innovative programs launched by CCI in 2011.
Nathan Briggs Nathan Briggs - Energy Assessor
CCI is pleased to introduce Nathan Briggs, our newest Energy Assessor working for the Duquesne Light Smart Comfort Program. Nathan is a 2005 graduate of Allegheny College where he earned his Bachelors in Environmental Studies. Nathan went on to earn a Masters in Forest Ecology and Management from the University of Freiburg, Germany in 2010. Nathan is continuing his passion for the environment by helping individuals reduce their energy use which in turn results in less pollution emitted into the environment.

Kevin Brown – Energy Assessor
Kevin started with CCI way back in 1995! A native of Pittsburgh and graduate of Langley High School, Kevin attended Gannon College majoring in Mental Health Counseling with a concentration on behavioral issues in school aged children. In his early years with CCI, Kevin served as outreach and scheduling coordinator for the Green Neighborhood initiative and Columbia Gas LIURP programs. Since 1998 Kevin has plied his services as an Energy Assessor for the Duquesne Light Smart Comfort program. When Kevin isn't working for the Smart Comfort program he can be found on the stage performing from Pittsburgh PA to Johannesburg S. Africa.
Charlie Cook, BPI BA – Energy Auditor
Charlie is CCI's latest auditor hire, but no stranger to the organization! For the past two years as a contractor to CCI, Charlie helped us complete audits for both Equitable Gas and Duquesne Light. Charlie earned a BS and MS degrees in Engineering from the University of Wisconsin and Ohio State University, respectively, followed by a career working with the US Air Force, Westinghouse Electric Corporation, and the PTC Alliance. Since "retiring" Charlie has pursued a second career in the energy efficiency fields earning BPI and RESNET certifications.
Garrett Fabian, BPI BA, BPI MF, Resnet and Energy Star – Energy Auditor
Garrett signed on with CCI in June of 2007, performing in-home electric efficiency assessments and education for Duquene Light's Smart Comfort Program. Garrett went on to earn two BPI certifications qualifying him to perform comprehensive audits for the Peoples TWP Weatherization and Columbia Gas IQEEP programs.
Juanita Gee – Energy Assessor
A 23+ year veteran of CCI, Juanita brings a wealth of experience in the service of Duquesne Light's Smart Comfort and Columbia Gas post-weatherization inspections programs. Juanita is also the principal auditor for CCI's custom designed walk-through home energy audit program, eSmart3.
Gwendolen Morton – Energy Assessor
Gwendolen is a graduate of the University of Pittsburgh with a dual degree in Environmental Studies and Political Science. For most of her three years at CCI, Gwendolen has dedicated her efforts toward the Duquesne Light Smart Comfort program where she performs electric baseload energy audits, installs basic energy saving devices and shares valuable energy saving information with customers to help reduce their energy consumption. Gwendolen also helps to manage invoicing for the appliances delivered in conjunction with Smart Comfort.
Jonathan Nadle, BPI BA, Resnet and Energy Star – Senior Energy Auditor
Another long-term associate, Jonathan has worked for CCI since 1995. Starting as an Energy Assessor in Duquesne Light's Smart Comfort, a baseload electric reduction program that he went on to manage for six years. Jonathan serves as CCI's Senior Auditor, having earned dual RESNET and BPI certifications, performing energy audits on new and existing homes and small commercial structures for a variety of CCI's programs.

The Admin Team

Donna Kozlik – Program Coordinator
Donna is CCI's program coordinator for the Duquesne Light Smart Comfort program. Her duties range from information management, eligibility screening, customer acquisition and scheduling for roughly 3,500 audits every year.
David Chunn - Program Assistant
After moving to Pittsburgh to take a fellowship with the Student Conservation Association, David joined CCI in late 2011 as its new program assistant. A native of Alabama and a graduate from Auburn University, David brings his passion for sustainability and his love of BBQ to CCI in its mission to promote responsible energy and resource use in homes and buildings. 
Loretta Seiss – AP/AR
Loretta brings 16 years of bookkeeping experience to CCI and we're pleased to have her on board.
Marlene Walsh – CCI Center Coordinator/Administrative Assistant
In her role as Administrative Assistant, Marlene provides support to executive director; coordinating meetings, classes and events at the CCI center. Additionally, Marlene performs variety of outreach and administrative functions in support CCI's utility programs.
